Direct Support Trainer

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and assistance to individuals with disabilities in a home setting. The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and committed to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in implementing plans of action (POA) and ensuring the continued-growth towards a more independent life.

Duties

  • Aid participants on implementing strategies to attain more indepndence.
  • Support by encouraging a routine for daily living activities such as cooking, personal hygiene, and mobility support.
  • Implement individualized plan of actions tailored to each participant’s needs.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation of medication administration.
  • Provide leadership and engage participants in autonomy to promote their independence and quality of life.
  • Support participants with achieving objectives and goals.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to create a supportive environment for individuals with disabilities.
  • Assist participantss with managing their health care medical appointments, prescription refills and documentation of medical appointment summary
  • Document daily activities through note taking .

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with people with disabilities is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to monitor patient health effectively and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with participants, families, and team members.
  • A compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
  • Must be have a driver license, insurance and registration.
  • Must pass background check.
  • Must have a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is important, as shifts may vary based on resident needs.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.50 – $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
